On 15 May, H.E. Mr Hong Liang, Chinese Ambassador in Myanmar, paid a farewell call upon H.E. Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Education.

Ambassador Hong said that China-Myanmar relations maintain a sound momentum of development, and the two countries are jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor. Education cooperation is an important part of China-Myanmar relations. China is willing to continue to build China-Myanmar Friendship Schools with Myanmar, conduct cooperation of vocational training and higher education, so as to provide sufficient talent reserves and intellectual support for the two countries to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi spoke highly of Ambassador Hong Liang's extensive work in promoting Myanmar-China education cooperation. He thanked China for its support and assistance in promoting the development of education in Myanmar in recent years. He said that Myanmar is willing to further deepen education cooperation with China, contributing to the building of the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
