On 15 May, H.E. Mr Hong Liang, Chinese Ambassador in Myanmar, paid a farewell call upon H.E. Dr Than Myint, Union Minister for Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw.

Ambassador Hong said that China and Myanmar are jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, ushering our bilateral relations into a new stage. China is willing to speed up the construction of Border Economic Cooperation Zone and Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone under the framework of China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, expand the import of quality agricultural products from Myanmar and facilitate the flow of goods and people, bringing the practical cooperation between the two countries to a new high.

Union Minister Dr Than Myint spoke highly of Ambassador Hong Liang's extensive work in promoting Myanmar-China economic and trade cooperation. He said that Myanmar is willing to continue to work closely with China to build the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, promote the interconnectivity of trade and infrastructures, thus benefitting the two countries and the two peoples.
