Recent years have witnessed the great progress of economic and trade cooperation between China and Myanmar with fields of cooperation expanding from simply trade and commercial aids to contracted projects, investment and multi-lateral cooperation. Statistics show that by the end of year 2003, Chinese enterprises in Myanmar has numbered 38 and the amount of agreement investment reached USD 66.14 million. Large increase also appears in bilateral trade volume with USD 862 million in 2002 to USD 1.08 billion in 2003, according to figures of China's customs. China has become the third largest trading partner of Myanmar, ranking behind Singapore and Thailand
