On the night of August 1st, Senior Colonel and Mrs. Ma Shoudong, Chinese Military, Naval & Air Attaché, hosted a grand reception to mark the 78th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China. Member of the State Peace and Development Council General Thura Shwe Mann of the Ministry of Defence and wife Daw Khin Lay Thet attended the Reception. Also present on the occasion were member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Ye Myint of the Ministry of Defence and wife, Chief of Military Affairs Security Maj-Gen Myint Swe and wife, Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win and wife and senior military officers of the Ministry of Defence and Chinese Ambassador Mr Li Jinjun and embassy staff, ambassadors and Military Attachés of foreign missions in Myanmar and Myanmar Chinese Representatives and heads of the Chinese companies in Myanmar and others.

The innovative and Chinese style decorations left an impressive memory to all the guests. The Great Wall model stands in the middle of the hall and there were also some special ice carvings. The red and gold ribbons make the ballroom full of festival atmosphere. At the ceremony, the Guard of Honour and Military Band of the Myanmar Tatnadaw entertained the guests with the songs and the guests also enjoyed a Chinese cultural movie.

 During the function, with the company of Ambassador Mr Li Jinjun and Senior Colonel and Mrs. Ma Shoudong, General Thura Shwe Mann and Madame cut the birthday cake to mark the 78th anniversary of the founding of the PLA and extended best wishes to the Chinese people and armed forces.
