On Jan. 20th, at the invitation of Ambassador Li Jinjun, Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister U Kyaw Thu and madam came to the Ambassador's Residence to attend the family dinner together with his daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Also at present were Military Attache Senior-Colonel Ma Shoudong and wife as well as Cultural Attache Wang Ruiqing and wife. The dinner was in a warm atmosphere that both hosts and guests were happy.

        Deputy Foreign Minister U Kyaw Thu is the son of former Myanmar President Dr. Maung Maung. He had ever served in the army for quite a long time and then in year 1999 he moved to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be sent to South Africa as the Ambassador. In year 2001 to 2003 he was the Myanmar Ambassador to India, during which time he won the award of Green Diplomacy and Best Diplomat from the India Government. Ever since August 2003 he has been serving as the current post of Deputy Foreign Minister. This is the first time for him and his family to come to our Embassy for a get-together dinner.
