On the evening of January 14th, Ambassador Li Jinjun hosted a dinner in thanking the warm hospitality of the Myanmar side for the delegation led by H.E. Mr. Zhao Yongji, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of China, who are attending the First Ministerial Meeting (Deputy Minister Level) on Combating Transnational Crimes and Maintaining Social Order in the Border Area of China and Myanmar. Myanmar Minister of Home Affairs Maj-Gen Maung Oo, Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Phone Swe, Director-General of the Myanmar Police Force Pol. Maj-Gen Khin Yi and major officials in the Ministry as well as in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs attended the dinner under invitation. At present were also Military Attache Senior Colonel Ma Shoudong, Cultural Counselor Wang Ruiqing and officials from the Embassy.
During the dinner, the two sides expressed satisfaction on the fruit of the Meeting and sang high praise for the bilateral police cooperation. Both the hosts and guests were in high mood because of the warm and friendly atmospher while Pol. Maj-Gen Khin Yi as well as Chinese delegation members presented songs to add to the fun. This is the first time did the Minister Maj-Gen Maung Oo attend Embassy get-gother dinner since he took the post around two months ago. Before ending of the dinner, both the Minister and Maj-Gen Khin Yi said that they "come with joy and go with gusto".
Before that, the Chinese delegation went to Bagan (known as the City of Ten Thousand Pagodas) and Mandalay (the second largest city of Myanmar) for a tour visit. |
