Embassy and Consulate of PRC in Mynamar and Chinese Enterprises Dedicated Love to Myanmar People Suffering Disaster

On the morning of 7 Jan. 2005, Ambassador Li Jinjun represented the Embassy, Consulate General in Mandalay and Chinese Enterprises Chamber in Myanmar to donate 6,129,400 Kyats (amount to 6735.6 USD), in which the Embassy and Consulate General donated 1,865,400 Kyats. Minister of Social Welfare, Relief & Resettlement of Myanmar Maj-Gen. Sein Htwa accepted the donation, expressed appreciation for this on behalf of the Ministry and the disaster-stricken people, and indicated that Myanmar Government has founded a leading group for disaster aid headed by Lt-Gen. Thein Sein, Secretary-1 of State Peace and Development Council, to take charge of the usage of the donation. The Myanmar side will apply the donation soon to purchasing the goods needed by disaster-stricken people, including clothing, medicine and reconstructive materials, etc.

Economic and Commercial Counselor of Chinese Embassy Tang Hai as well as representatives of Chinese Enterprises in Myanmar, such as NORINCO, COSCON, Alcatel Shanghai Bell, China Oil and Shenzhen Zhongxing Telecom Equipment Ltd, were also present at the ceremony.

Ambassador Li Jinjun, Councelor Tang Hai and representatives of NORINCO, COSCON, Alcatel Shanghai Bell, China Oil and Zhongxing Ltd are donating money to the Myanmar side.
