The Embassy of China in Myanmar Held the China-Myanmar Media Tea Party Themed “Opportunity · China”

On April 8, the Embassy of China in Myanmar held the China-Myanmar Media Tea Party themed “Opportunity · China” at the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (CECCM), at which Minister Counselor Dr. Zheng Zhihong delivered a keynote speech. The attendees of the event included Mr. Liu Ming, chairman of the CECCM, official from the Ministry of Information of Myanmar, representatives from more than 20 Myanmar and Chineses media and Chinese-funded enterprises in Myanmar,as well asChinese diplomats.

Minister Counselor Zheng Zhihong presented an overview of the Two Sessions, indicating that the Two Sessions have set the main goals and policy orientations for China’s economic and social development this year. China’s economy grew by 5.2% in 2023, leading the world in growth rate, and will remain a major engine of global economic growth. With the country’s strong economic resilience, great potential, and vitality, the new quality productive forces will provide strong growth momentum for promising high-quality development. China is committed to promoting the building of a community with shared future for mankind and bringing new opportunities to the world through the Chinese path to modernization. Investing in China is to invest in the future, and the next “China” will still be China. China’s development first benefits neighboring countries like Myanmar, and the prospects for China-Myanmar cooperation are broad with enormous potential. Weare willing to promote the deeper and more substantial construction of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future continuously, thus bringing more tangible cooperation results to benefit the two peoples.

Chairman Liu Ming introduced the work progress of CECCM, stating that the Chamber, as a bridge of China-Myanmar friendly cooperation, is committed to promoting comprehensive investment and economic cooperation between China and Myanmar. He expressed willingness to assist in media coverage of stories related to Chinese-funded enterprises in Myanmar and to jointly amplify the sound of China-Myanmar friendly cooperation. Representatives from Chinese-funded textile, electricity, and electric vehicle companies in Myanmar introduced their operations, cooperation efforts, social responsibility fulfillment, and contributions to Myanmar’s economic and social development. They highlighted Myanmar’s abundant resources and great development potential, and expressed not only their hope to develop the friendship between the two peoples, but also their readiness to enhance practical cooperation between China and Myanmar, thus creating more jobs in Myanmar and improving the well-being of the two peoples.

Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on new quality productive forces, textile industry development, electricity supply, electric vehicles, and trade exchanges, and conducted open dialogues on the opportunities and challenges facing economic cooperation in Myanmar. Media representatives emphasized that China has always been a good neighbor to Myanmar, and its development brings new opportunities for Myanmar’s economic and social progress. As media outlets, they will be further dedicated to telling the story of China-Myanmar friendship and making due contributions to advance the practical cooperation between the two countries.
