On 30 July, H.E. Mr Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, hosted the China-Myanmar Media reception in Yangon. About 60 representatives from Myanmar official and private media together with Chinese diplomats attended the event.

      Ambassador Chen said that China and Myanmar are linked by mountains and rivers. We enjoy deep Pauk-Phaw friendship and are a natural community of shared future. Our bilateral relations maintain a sound momentum of development. Our cooperation in all fields is deepening and people-to-people exchanges are more frequent. As the 19th Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, I will lead my team to carry forward our traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and make every effort to bring our bilateral relations to a new high.

      Ambassador Chen stressed that the Chinese Embassy is ready to be the promoter of Myanmar’s development. We hope to deepen China-Myanmar cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and help Myanmar make new achievements in modernization. We are ready to be the promoter of peace for Myanmar. We will continue to play a constructive role in Myanmar peace process and Rakhine issue according to the needs of Myanmar. We are ready to be the promoter of China-Myanmar friendly cooperation. We will facilitate communication and cooperation in education, culture, health, sports, environmental protection and poverty alleviation, bringing more benefits to the two peoples. We are ready to be the promoter of China-Myanmar media cooperation, providing a broader platform for exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and enhancing people-to-people bond.

      At the reception, Ambassador Chen exchanged views with guests on issues of common interest in a friendly atmosphere.
